Josh Taylor vs Teofimo Lopez HUGE FIGHT but MEDIOCRE SETTING. “Fight should be in the Big Room, Not the MSG Theater”

Josh Taylor vs Teofimo Lopez was officially announced during the Shakur Stevenson vs Shuichiro Yoshino event.  Taylor vs Lopez is scheduled for June 10th Yet before going face to face, both Taylor and Lopez will be fighting the “powers that be” due to the lack of value and respect they both feel in reference to the site in which this huge fight is scheduled to take place. Unfortunately, during the announcement it was revealed that Taylor vs Lopez will be held in a small venue. MSG Theater which only holds an estimated 5,000 plus.

No disrespect but that’s a slap in the face to both men who fought their biggest fight during the pandemic in which both fighters became undisputed but didn’t get the chance to celebrate their victory with thousands in attendance. Lopez defeated Vasyl Lomachenko to become lightweight undisputed champion and Taylor defeated Jose Ramirez to become junior welterweight undisputed champion . How can this fight be minimized to a theater is beyond comprehension. Seems history will repeat itself. Arguably this may be each of their biggest and potential lucrative fight since capturing their lineal achievements and yet again will be limited to a mediocre setting.

During their 1st t.v appearance to announce their fight. Teofimo Lopez asked Taylor “don’t you think this fight should be in the Mecca and not the theater”

Taylor replied with “Of course I agree, I think we will sell out with both promoting and talking smack to one another eachother.”

The assumption of having this fight in MSG the theater is to make sure the big room would be available in case New York Knicks or Rangers Makes it deep into their post season. Yet Knicks & Rangers is not the only one that represents New York and isn’t the only one attempting to capture a world title. Teofimo Lopez who also represent New York is attempting to capture another World title in the same place he capture his first world title as a co main when he defeated the then IBF lightweight champion Richard Commey.

This will be the first time Teofimo Lopez will headline Madison Square Garden to capture a world title. The New York City born Phenom Teofimo Lopez is just as qualified as any NYC franchise for the big room at Madison Square Garden to be reserved to him especially when a World title & lineal which is the most prestige title is on the line.
