Devin Haney should sign with Top Rank if he truly wants Teofimo Lopez “Business decisions speaks louder than words.”

Devin Haney has constantly express his interest in fighting Teofimo Lopez and other top Lightweights. Haney also have stated his frustration with fighters ducking him. Teofimo Lopez attended the Oscar Valdez vs Robson Conceição this passed weekend and during the telecast in which he was interview by the ESPN broadcasting team. Teofimo stated that he’s willing to fight Devin Haney yet Haney will avoid and lock in a fight in November knowing that Teofimo would be available right after the George Kambosos fight October 4th for a November showdown with Haney if he wanted the fight. That’s if Teofimo beats Kambosos as he predicts via 1st round knockout.

Devin Haney’s Dad Bill Haney said on THA BOXING VOICE podcast that they are interested in fighting the IBO lightweight champion Maxi Hughes. Stating which that’s the only opponent that’s available that’s willing to fight his son. I think we seen this strategy pulled by the Haneys quite a few time. Yell that everyone is ducking so by the time they announce an unfavorable opponent they would say “this was the only opponent willing to fight us.” But the lineal UNDISPUTED pound 4 pound champion Teofimo Lopez is expressing to the world for Haney not to sign any fight deal until after The Kambosos fight so both could be available to fight in November. It makes perfectly good sense for Haney to hold off on a possible Hughe plan or at least keep that as a plan B.

Haney who is currently a free agent could easily sign With Top rank for a multi fight deal, and the Teofimo Lopez fight will definitely come thru fruition. Allegedly, Devin Haney this summer decline an offer from Top Rank to sign with them which could have eventually have a fight with Teofimo Lopez and Vasyl Lomachenko. Both of those fighters also publicly have stated they welcome a fight with Devin Haney. So it make sense for Haney to sign with the company that have the infrastructure to fight for legacy because at the moment, what does Matchroom offer other than money? The same analogy that have been used in reference to Terence Crawford needing to sign with Pbc to get the Errol Spence fight and Top Rank not having the infrastructure at welterweight to enhance Crawford legacy.

Manny Pacquiao and Canelo Alvarez made the moves to cross the street to accomplished goals they set. Canelo needed to do business with Matchroom to fight champions like Callum Smith and Billy Joe Saunders. Now he signed a Pbc deal to fight ibf champion Caleb Plant in quest to become Undisputed. Hmmm don’t Haney want the opportunity to become undisputed? If Canelo had to make the move to enhance his legacy why not Haney? That is if he wants to enhance his legacy. Pacquiao did the same. He wanted to face the best at welterweight and he signed to Pbc and fought and beat Keith Thurman who was regarded the best welterweight at that time and became Wba super welterweight champion again.

Devin Haney mandatory challenger Jojo Diaz and Team Golden Boy promotion is neglecting to fight for Haney’s wbc world title belt for a bigger payday and in house fight vs Former wbc interim title holder Ryan Garcia. WBC president Mauricio Suliaman in past interview stated the fight between Garcia vs Haney never materialized, because both sides decided to fight in a later time when everything fully opens up.

Haney Now got a great opportunity to sign with Top Rank and lockdown a fight with Teofimo Lopez. Nobody is standing in Haney’s way but Haney if he don’t take full advantage of the window of opportunity. Business decisions speaks louder than words.
