For August 14th Showtime just announced a unification bout between future hall of famer WBC bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire vs John Riel Casimero who holds the WBO title. Nonito Donaire just coming a highly impressive win vs Nordine Oubaali as he made history knocking out Oubaali via fourth-round knockout to capture the WBC Bantamweight World Title and become a three-time bantamweight world champion. Donaire after the fight had his eye set in rematching Unified champ Naoya Inoue who defeated Donaire but an ideal opportunity for Donaire to fight Casimero who was scheduled to fight Guillermo Rigondeaux for Casimero’s WBO bantamweight world title but Rig stepping aside for this Filipino massive unification bout.
Casimero respect Donaire a lot and also acknowledge that he use to look up to him. Casimero was trained by Donaire’s dad and stated that he asked Nonito to work with him tho around that time Nonito replied “what is he (Casimero) going to teach me or how is he going to make me better.” Casimero felt snubbed and since then, Casimero have held a little grudge. Things have come full circle and Casimero is brining something to the table that Nonito Donaire wants.
John riel Casimero arguably have the best streak and momentum of any champion in boxing performance wise. Ever since working with Manny Pacquiao and being mentor by the Great Pacquiao.
