Teofimo Lopez Sr in an interview with Punsh Drunk Boxing replied back to Josh Taylor after making the recent comment of “Teofimo Lopez is not an undisputed champion until he beats Devin Haney.”
Lopez Sr stated during the interview that Josh Taylor is just trying to find an early excuse not to face Teofimo Lopez after his bout vs Jose Ramirez for undisputed if in case he does win.
Josh Taylor feels Teofimo Lopez Undisputed was not won the traditional way in which all belt should be recognized by all major sanctioning bodies. Lopez holds the WBC franchise lightweight belt which Wbc president Mauricio Suliaman and its board voted that The franchise champion is their supreme champion at Lightweight above all champions. Common sense tells us if all belt federations separately recognize their lightweight champion as Teofimo Lopez than Undisputed it is. The wbc is not doing anything traditionally anyways.
