Gary Russell Jr DRAINED, INJURED & LAYOFF Will be enough for Mark Magsayo to be victorious?

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (January 21, 2022) WBC Featherweight World Champion Gary Russell Jr. and unbeaten top challenger Mark Magsayo went face-to-face At their Weigh in which Gary Russell Jr missed weight on his first attempt by half pound over the 126 pound limit at 126.5 but later made weight in his 2nd attempt 125.5.

Gary Russell Jr coming in yet another long layoff. Nearly 2 years since he been in action, and layoff is not the only hiccups leading up to this fight. Russell Jr also revealed he’s coming into this fight injured and is fair to say that missing weight, he’s also coming in drained.

Mark Magsayo should have all the physical and health advantages. He’s younger, seasoned, in shape and coming off a “knock out of the year” victory when he defeated Julio Ceja this past summer on the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao vs Yordenis Ugas event.

With Pacquiao retiring and Nonito Donaire in the Twilight of his career. Will Magsayo be the New Golden child to the Filipino people with a win over the longest reigning champion in boxing?

Skills pay the bills and fairly speaking Gary Russell has more experience and intangibles than his counterpart. Yet since those skills have not been in action. The bills have not been paid. Russell’s reign maybe heading to foreclosure this Saturday night.
