Floyd Mayweather which Davis is signed with, stated during Davis last fight post fight press conference which he defeated Mario Barrios, That Davis next opponent will be a fighter under the mayweather/Pbc brand. Which Mayweather promotion is not looking to make any other promotional company great, in reference to facing fighters such as current Undisputed lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez who is under Top Rank at ESPN. Wbc world champion Devin Haney who’s in partnership with Matchroom promotion Eddie Hearn at DAZN. Ryan Garcia who’s with Golden Boy Promotion at DAZN. Now you can only make another promotional company great if Gervonta Davis Lose to one of those fighters or any other fighters not Linked to Mayweather promotions. Maybe Mayweather promotions don’t have enough confidence in their fighter to be victorious vs those which were name including the likes of Vasyl Lomachenko which they avoided to fight.
Tho is not odd that each promotional company showcase their in-house fighters, fighting eachother yet at this stage of Gervonta Davis career, a true challenge won’t hurt. Many feel in the boxing world that the training wheels have not come off and That mayweather is way to concern in putting butts in the seats for Tank, than putting legit names and accomplishments on the resume. Rolando Romero is also coming off a TKO victory as a co main at the last Jermell Charlo vs Castano undisputed bout in San Antonio this past summer.
