Mario Barrios sends shock waves thru the welterweight division as he defeated former WBA Welterweight Champion Yordenis Ugas in a thrilling performance Which puts him in a direct line for a undisputed title shot against Pound 4 Pound best, Terence Crawford or if Crawford plans to move up to the Junior Middleweight division to fight either Errol Spence or Jermell Charlo and vacates the titles. A fight with young phenom Jaron Ennis would very well be the primary fight in the welterweight division.
Barrios dropped Ugas in the 2nd Round with a counter stiff jab which set the tone for a one sided performance. Barrios almost stopped Ugas in the 12th as He knocked down Ugas once again yet the champion heart in Ugas managed to end the fight on his foot.
Victory over Ugas, earned Barrios the WBC interim Welterweight title which puts him in mandatory position to challenge Crawford, but if Crawford vacates. It will elevate Barrios as to full champion and than he can challenge Jaron Ennis for a unification bout. Ennis is currently IBF interim Welterweight Champion which will also be elevated assuming Crawford vacates.
